Lee Stafford - ArganOil Deep Nourishing Treatment

Quick review today of Lee Stafford's ArganOil Deep Nourishing Treatment. Recently my hair has turned extremely dry and frizzy in places so in a mad panic on night i splurged on the Boots website and treated myself to a whole bunch of treatments and conditioners to try and bring it back to life.

One of these products was Lee Stafford's ArganOil Deep Nourishing Treatment - a little expensive at £14.99 for a 200ml pot but luxurious and nourishing none-the-less.

This treatment was a thick white conditioner, you needed to use an 'egg sized' scoop and massage through from roots to ends. I found i only got 5 uses out of a 200ml pot which works out at an equivalent to £3 a use!

ArganOil Deep Nourishing Treatment is non-greasy and leaves your hair feeling soft and moisturised. I must admit that i didn't really notice that this product did anything special to my hair until the last use when i used about a dollop and a half to use up the pot - after i had dried and styled my hair it felt extremely soft and silky. Up until this point i hadn't been overly thrilled and i don't think i will be repurchasing. I cant really justify £15 on a conditioner that isn't a wonder product and that i only get 4-5 uses out of a tub.

I do love Lee Stafford's product (the Hair Growth products are fab!) but on this occasion they haven't worked for me.

Go Blonder ...

I was recently asked if i would be interested in trying John Frieda's Go Blonder Lightening Spray and i jumped at the chance! I absolutely adore the John Frieda blonde hair care range and have been using their different shampoo's and conditioner's since i started bleaching my hair around 7 years ago!

I must admit i was a little apprehensive about using this product; firstly because i started using it just after i had my hair coloured and didn't want to mess up my expensive highlights but secondly because i thought it could just be a gimmick product and wouldn't actually do anything to lighten my hair ... (contradicting myself there totally!)

To quote the blurb on the box ... "Exclusive, versatile formula with citrus and chamomile works with blow-dryer heat to gradually lighten and brighten for a natural-looking, blonder blonde. Visibly lightens in 3-5 uses. Thermo-Protectant."

I simply sprayed the lightening product all over my hair paying particular attention to my roots.

Bit of background for you ... i recently switched from having all over bleach to having a darker shade of blonde and caramel highlights in a bid to combat horrid dark roots and to save the condition of my hair. I have a sort of shadow effect going on while the bleach grows out and my natural colour combined with the highlights is featured at the top of my head ... sort of a weird little ombre, no? ha

Anyways, back to the John Frieda Go Blonder Lightening Spray ...

I used the spray each time after washing on towel-dried hair (I used Aussie Aussome Volume shampoo and John Frieda Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Moisturising conditioner, in case you were wondering) and then dried my hair with the hair-dryer and straightened my locks straight after.

14.07.11 - first use - my natural mousey colour with bleach blonde and caramel highlights

I began to notice a difference in the colour of my roots on the third use. They were noticeably lighter and after consulting a friend we both agreed that they were more a caramel blonde colour rather than a dark, mousey blonde which they were to begin with.

Actually after the second use i had a few comments on my hair from work colleagues and family saying that my hair looked different but they couldn't pin down what it was.

18.07.11 - second use ...

I would definitely say my highlights are more enhanced since using this product and the colour of my roots have lightened quite a lot.

21.07.11 - starting to see a change

 

This is a great product to use to enhance the life of your blonde colouring between hair appointments.

I'm about half way through my bottle now and will definitely be repurchasing this when i run out!

25.07.11 - noticeably lighter - tones in with my caramel highlights nicely ...

28.07.11 - loving the colour, i wont need to visit the hairdresser for a while now ...

Be sure to check out the shampoo/conditioner to give your hair added omph! when lightening :)

Not suitable for use on medium brown or darker shades of hair.

My quest for BIG hair ...

Today i thought i'd run through my current hair routine. It changes every few months as i am on a constant quest for photoshoot ready hair. I have been desperately trying to add volume to my locks and this is how i'm achieving it at present ....

I wash my hair with Aussie Miracle Moist shampoo. Now i absolutely adore this shampoo! I can not recommend it enough.

The smell, oh my gosh!

Have you ever been to Chessington World of Adventures and been on the BubbleWorks ride?! Well this shampoo reminds me of that ride and the divine smell of the magical bubbles and the water fountains.

Not only does it have the most gorgeous smell ever but it lathers up a treat. In fact this shampoo lathers up more than any other shampoo i've ever tried! And leaves my hair feeling replenished and soft.

I then condition my hair - i am still searching for my perfect conditioner so my choice of product changes from shower to shower. I have 4 different conditioners on the go at the mo .... Aussie Aussome Volume, Aussie Mega Instant, Herbal Essence's Colour Me Happy and L'Oreal Elvive Damage Care. To be honest, i dont think any of these are right for my hair...

After showering i then leave my hair to part-dry for half hour or so and then spray with Tigi Superstar Queen For A Day. I have recently rediscovered this after having it in my collection for about a year - I have always used this on dry hair to add a messy texture for a rock chick look - but i now grab for this product before blow-drying my hair, i love it! Another plus for this product is that it doesnt leave any residue or greasiness - result!

I then blow-dry and straighten my hair as standard.

I then use another product on my hair to add a bit of 'oomph!' to my hair. Umberto Giannini's Backcomb in a Bottle. Now i know this product has been blogged about loads recently and i admit i only found out about it by reading The London Lipgloss review but i LOVE LOVE LOVE it and cant recommend it enough - i even told my hairdresser about it and that she must buy it! haha.

My locks are naughty and dont do what i want them to do like EVER but by using this combination of products they've been much less unruly - i just need to perfect the 'bird's nest' look that i adore on the boho fashionista's that i envy and i'll be set for the Summer festival season!

What do you guys use to add volume to your barnet?

Any suggestions or tips that i could try?
