Umberto Giannini Glam Hair Ditch The Dirt Volume Shampoo *Review*

Friday, 1 July 2011

So i recently ran out of my Umberto Giannini Backcomb in a Bottle so skipped along to Boots to repurchase. While there i spied UG products on offer for 2 for £7 and wasn't quite sure what else to try. I must've spent about 10 minutes staring aimlessly at the products and decided to opt for their Ditch The Dirt Volume Shampoo.

I'm a total sucker for adverts, believing the blurbs on backs of the bottle and with Ditch The Dirt promising to 'strengthen even bleached 'within an inch of its life' hair with super nourishing repair ingredients' i was excited to give this a whirl.

As with all of the Glam Hair range by Umberto Giannini the packaging is spot on. A sleek black bottle with a silver mirrored cap and bold silver labels.

The real surprise came when i first went to use the shampoo, i unscrewed the cap and tipped some of the product into my hand - a gorgeous shimmery shampoo came out!! :) and it smelt absolutely divine (exactly like Backcomb in a Bottle which i love!)

shimmer shimmer!

One thing i have found with this product is that you need a lot of it for it to lather nicely. I've used it 3 times so far and am already halfway through the bottle and on the last occasion it just wouldn't lather up so i had to add some other shampoo to the mix :(

It does add a fair amount of volume to my hair and teamed with my daily routine of Backcomb In A Bottle, backcombing and some Schwarzkopf Got2B Powderful (for texture) i pretty much have the boho look down :)

Have you tried Ditch The Dirt Volume Shampoo? What other volume shampoo's should i try?

Day 5 - 30 Day Challenge - A photograph of a hairstyle you’d like to have ...

Monday, 2 May 2011

Right i have swapped Day 5 and 6 challenges around as today i was meant to show you "A day in the life, photographs taken throughout your day" but me and the bf have been incredibly lazy and stayed in bed all day, played on our laptops and eaten cakes (not really interesting for you guys!) So i have decided to do that challenge tomorrow when i'm back in a normal routine and have a working day :)

Day 5 of my 30 Day Challenge - A photograph of a hairstyle you’d like to have:

I love love love this look! This is the actual picture i emailed my hairdresser when i decided to stop having white blonde hair and switch to highlights. I havent quite achieved this hairstyle and colour yet but slowly getting there. Just wish my hair would hurry up and grow!!

If you could what celebs hairstyle would you steal?

ASOS - House of Harlow by Nicole Richie

Monday, 2 May 2011

I totally love Nicole Richie. I love her effortlessly cool boho/hippy style, she has the most gorgeous hair and a hot rocker husband ;) and her own fashion/jewellery line. So jel!

I've heard great things from across the pond about her House of Harlow jewellery line and when i found out ASOS started stocking it i literally stopped what i was doing and logged in for a sneak peak.

I must say i am a little disappointed. Firstly the selection of items on ASOS is limited and secondly the prices, OMG! I will not be forking out £130 for a bangle, no sirree! I darent look at Nicole's clothing line Winter Kate!

I'm not sure who to blame here; Miss Nicole Richie for her incredible expensive, but beautiful jewels or ASOS for realising they're onto a good thing and doing a major price-hike overhaul throughout their entire site (yes ASOS, i have noticed the cost of your items increasing over the last year or so! Free Shipping does not make up for this!) *little dig at ASOS now over*

Needless to say i will not be buying any of the House of Harlow items (unless i stumble across a large pot of gold at the end of a rainbow).

Guess i'll have to manage with my trinket box of treasures from Primark *sigh*

Day 2 - 30 Day Challenge - Your favourite pair of shoes ...

Friday, 29 April 2011

Day 2 of my 30 Day Challenge - Your favourite pair of shoes

I have chosen this pair as i seem to be wearing these a lot at the mo when i'm not at work. They're a couple of years old now (as you can see by the scruffiness of them!) I wore biker boots all winter which i absolutely adore but now the warmer weather is here they're a bit hot and heavy on my feets :( boo! These are lighter, more in-keeping with my current Boho style so have replaced my gorge biker boots for now.

I think these will be my trusted pair of boots for Download Festival this year too so (depending on the weather) they may only have a couple of months use left in them!

Today really is a Good Friday ...

Friday, 22 April 2011

Happy Easter to all my readers :)

I am in a great mood today; my hair has actually behaved for once and i have managed to create some fresh, beachy waves and with the new colour (had more caramel put in!) it looks great. I have also had some great results from my camera and tripod combo today so without further a-do i'll let you see what i achieved with a quick OOTD/HOTD post ....

Outfit:

Dress - Primark
Denim waistcoat - Primark (years and years ago!)

Make-Up:

I am a self-confessed Primark addict - most of my clothing comes there and i'm quite lucky to have a one in all the surrounding towns to where i live so i get a vast range of products and choice :)

How are my OOTD posts turning out? Enjoying them?

OOTD ...

Thursday, 21 April 2011

Evening ladies, thought i'd give you a quick flash of what i wore today....

I absolutely adore this little summery dress from Primark - i kept popping into my local store but they were forever out of stock in my size. On my recent shopping trip to Oxford Street i spied a lonely size 10 and stuffed it into my basket so quick that i was invisible to the human eye ;)

excuse my silly pose - not sure what i was doing here, ha!
I teamed it with a cute yellow cardi, tan pumps (and matching belt) and my fave accessories which were featured in this post.

Close-up of the pattern

I'm loving the hot weather and soooo looking forward to the bank holiday weekends :) i really need a break. I'm feeling poorly again - think i've been over-stretching myself recently :(

Happy Easter - hope you all get lots and lots of eggs :)

My quest for BIG hair ...

Tuesday, 5 April 2011

Today i thought i'd run through my current hair routine. It changes every few months as i am on a constant quest for photoshoot ready hair. I have been desperately trying to add volume to my locks and this is how i'm achieving it at present ....

I wash my hair with Aussie Miracle Moist shampoo. Now i absolutely adore this shampoo! I can not recommend it enough.

The smell, oh my gosh!

Have you ever been to Chessington World of Adventures and been on the BubbleWorks ride?! Well this shampoo reminds me of that ride and the divine smell of the magical bubbles and the water fountains.

Not only does it have the most gorgeous smell ever but it lathers up a treat. In fact this shampoo lathers up more than any other shampoo i've ever tried! And leaves my hair feeling replenished and soft.

I then condition my hair - i am still searching for my perfect conditioner so my choice of product changes from shower to shower. I have 4 different conditioners on the go at the mo .... Aussie Aussome Volume, Aussie Mega Instant, Herbal Essence's Colour Me Happy and L'Oreal Elvive Damage Care. To be honest, i dont think any of these are right for my hair...

After showering i then leave my hair to part-dry for half hour or so and then spray with Tigi Superstar Queen For A Day. I have recently rediscovered this after having it in my collection for about a year - I have always used this on dry hair to add a messy texture for a rock chick look - but i now grab for this product before blow-drying my hair, i love it! Another plus for this product is that it doesnt leave any residue or greasiness - result!

I then blow-dry and straighten my hair as standard.

I then use another product on my hair to add a bit of 'oomph!' to my hair. Umberto Giannini's Backcomb in a Bottle. Now i know this product has been blogged about loads recently and i admit i only found out about it by reading The London Lipgloss review but i LOVE LOVE LOVE it and cant recommend it enough - i even told my hairdresser about it and that she must buy it! haha.

My locks are naughty and dont do what i want them to do like EVER but by using this combination of products they've been much less unruly - i just need to perfect the 'bird's nest' look that i adore on the boho fashionista's that i envy and i'll be set for the Summer festival season!

What do you guys use to add volume to your barnet?

Any suggestions or tips that i could try?

xoxo

Feed the birds, tuppence a bag ...

Wednesday, 16 March 2011

Hands up if you have an obsession with handbags!!?

I love 'em! I have a coat/hat stand in the corner of my bedroom that has about one or two jackets on and a whole lotta handbags!

Thats not the only place i store them, i also have 2 sets of those cheap plastic storage drawers that you find in the likes of Argos, Asda, Wilko's....that are crammed with an array of beauties ranging from little clutch bags to oversized slouchy boho bags.

My addiction to bags gives me a fright every so often when i start doing my monthly clear-out for eBay sales and i find bags stashed inside other bags that havent seen the light of day for months!

Today i'm going to share some of my collection with you.
Miss Selfridge Floral bag - the bf bought this for my birthday and i havent stopped using it since. I have a serious bag crush on this beauty!

I just received this gem from eBay - the pic doesnt do it justice. Its huge! Super soft taupe/brown leather and has loads of different compartments. I think this is my new hand luggage bag!

Gorgeous dusky pink suede over the body bag

I've had this bag for about 5 years and it still looks like new! Its real leather and i picked it up in the Urban Outfitters sale for about £30!

Another gift from the bf - cute Cath Kidston shopper. Should really use this more!

How adorable is this shell design?! I barely use this but its soo cute. I took it on my hols last year and kept all my jewellery in it, lol.

I love love love my tassel bag! Its so versatile. I added the feathers (originally earrings!) and i use this all the time :)

My trusty studded clutch bag! This is the bag i always grab for a night out. Its oversized (my pics are rubbish, sorry!) and i nabbed this in Tesco for £8!

Straw barrel clutch with chain - unfortunately this got a dirty mark on the white flap and it makes me self-conscious everytime i use it :( i normally drag this out in the summer months.

Another Tesco find! Oversized, slouchy, studs - what more could i ask for!? I try not to use this too often even though it is one of my all time faves due to there being a few tears on the handles which im frightened will rip and break soon :( Anyone got any cool tips on how i could prevent/fix this??

This is just a small selection of ones that i use most regularly for day & evening use. Sorry for the awful pics, i wasnt feeling artistic today (bogged down with chores as its my day off).

xoxo
