Umberto Giannini Glam Hair Ditch The Dirt Volume Shampoo *Review*

Friday, 1 July 2011

So i recently ran out of my Umberto Giannini Backcomb in a Bottle so skipped along to Boots to repurchase. While there i spied UG products on offer for 2 for £7 and wasn't quite sure what else to try. I must've spent about 10 minutes staring aimlessly at the products and decided to opt for their Ditch The Dirt Volume Shampoo.

I'm a total sucker for adverts, believing the blurbs on backs of the bottle and with Ditch The Dirt promising to 'strengthen even bleached 'within an inch of its life' hair with super nourishing repair ingredients' i was excited to give this a whirl.

As with all of the Glam Hair range by Umberto Giannini the packaging is spot on. A sleek black bottle with a silver mirrored cap and bold silver labels.

The real surprise came when i first went to use the shampoo, i unscrewed the cap and tipped some of the product into my hand - a gorgeous shimmery shampoo came out!! :) and it smelt absolutely divine (exactly like Backcomb in a Bottle which i love!)

shimmer shimmer!

One thing i have found with this product is that you need a lot of it for it to lather nicely. I've used it 3 times so far and am already halfway through the bottle and on the last occasion it just wouldn't lather up so i had to add some other shampoo to the mix :(

It does add a fair amount of volume to my hair and teamed with my daily routine of Backcomb In A Bottle, backcombing and some Schwarzkopf Got2B Powderful (for texture) i pretty much have the boho look down :)

Have you tried Ditch The Dirt Volume Shampoo? What other volume shampoo's should i try?

Day 5 - 30 Day Challenge - A photograph of a hairstyle you’d like to have ...

Monday, 2 May 2011

Right i have swapped Day 5 and 6 challenges around as today i was meant to show you "A day in the life, photographs taken throughout your day" but me and the bf have been incredibly lazy and stayed in bed all day, played on our laptops and eaten cakes (not really interesting for you guys!) So i have decided to do that challenge tomorrow when i'm back in a normal routine and have a working day :)

Day 5 of my 30 Day Challenge - A photograph of a hairstyle you’d like to have:

I love love love this look! This is the actual picture i emailed my hairdresser when i decided to stop having white blonde hair and switch to highlights. I havent quite achieved this hairstyle and colour yet but slowly getting there. Just wish my hair would hurry up and grow!!

If you could what celebs hairstyle would you steal?

Today really is a Good Friday ...

Friday, 22 April 2011

Happy Easter to all my readers :)

I am in a great mood today; my hair has actually behaved for once and i have managed to create some fresh, beachy waves and with the new colour (had more caramel put in!) it looks great. I have also had some great results from my camera and tripod combo today so without further a-do i'll let you see what i achieved with a quick OOTD/HOTD post ....

Outfit:

Dress - Primark
Denim waistcoat - Primark (years and years ago!)

Hair:

Make-Up:

I am a self-confessed Primark addict - most of my clothing comes there and i'm quite lucky to have a one in all the surrounding towns to where i live so i get a vast range of products and choice :)

How are my OOTD posts turning out? Enjoying them?

Like A Bad Star, I'm Falling Faster Down To Her ... OOTD/EOTD

Thursday, 7 April 2011

Evening to all my beauties, whats up?!

Another Outfit/Eyes of the Day post (it's actually from yesterday as i stayed at the bf's last night and i was without camera and decent mirrors to even attempt some nice makeup - plus i was mega sleepy!)

Unfortunately during the week near enough all my outfits are for work - i'd love to wear all my floaty dresses and short shorts but i have to dress semi-smart and professional (so they believe i know what i'm doing ;) ha)

I wore a simple black skirt and added a deep purple snake skin and gold buckle belt to it. As the skirt is quite short (and my fake tan regime hasnt truly begun yet!) i wore black tights and matching little black ballet pumps. I adore my silvery/blue/grey shirt! I picked it up just after Christmas in New Look and the first time i wore it i teamed it with wet look leggings, heels and a blazer - it looks amazing :)

My camera couldnt quite pick up my eyeshadow look as it was fairly sheer ...

Eyes: MUA - Shade 16 Matt (very light, almost white, pink) and 17's Vintage Love Perfect Pastels palette (i chose the goldy mink colour)
Mascara: Maybelline's Great Lash - Blackest Black and 17's Va Va Voom Volume Mascara
Eyeliner: Barry M's Khol pencil

Few pics of something new i'm trying with my hair:

I love the messy boho 'bird's nest' look but i just cant seem to do it right....

What do you guys wear to work?

My quest for BIG hair ...

Tuesday, 5 April 2011

Today i thought i'd run through my current hair routine. It changes every few months as i am on a constant quest for photoshoot ready hair. I have been desperately trying to add volume to my locks and this is how i'm achieving it at present ....

I wash my hair with Aussie Miracle Moist shampoo. Now i absolutely adore this shampoo! I can not recommend it enough.

The smell, oh my gosh!

Have you ever been to Chessington World of Adventures and been on the BubbleWorks ride?! Well this shampoo reminds me of that ride and the divine smell of the magical bubbles and the water fountains.

Not only does it have the most gorgeous smell ever but it lathers up a treat. In fact this shampoo lathers up more than any other shampoo i've ever tried! And leaves my hair feeling replenished and soft.

I then condition my hair - i am still searching for my perfect conditioner so my choice of product changes from shower to shower. I have 4 different conditioners on the go at the mo .... Aussie Aussome Volume, Aussie Mega Instant, Herbal Essence's Colour Me Happy and L'Oreal Elvive Damage Care. To be honest, i dont think any of these are right for my hair...

After showering i then leave my hair to part-dry for half hour or so and then spray with Tigi Superstar Queen For A Day. I have recently rediscovered this after having it in my collection for about a year - I have always used this on dry hair to add a messy texture for a rock chick look - but i now grab for this product before blow-drying my hair, i love it! Another plus for this product is that it doesnt leave any residue or greasiness - result!

I then blow-dry and straighten my hair as standard.

I then use another product on my hair to add a bit of 'oomph!' to my hair. Umberto Giannini's Backcomb in a Bottle. Now i know this product has been blogged about loads recently and i admit i only found out about it by reading The London Lipgloss review but i LOVE LOVE LOVE it and cant recommend it enough - i even told my hairdresser about it and that she must buy it! haha.

My locks are naughty and dont do what i want them to do like EVER but by using this combination of products they've been much less unruly - i just need to perfect the 'bird's nest' look that i adore on the boho fashionista's that i envy and i'll be set for the Summer festival season!

What do you guys use to add volume to your barnet?

Any suggestions or tips that i could try?

xoxo
