NOTD - Fairy Dust ...

Wednesday, 23 November 2011

Long time no speak!

I've just seen that i haven't blogged since last Tuesday, that is very naughty of me! I've just been feeling so zapped when i get in from work i literally just lounge around lurking on Twitter and watching trash TV!

I have some exciting ideas forming for my blog so hoping to execute those soon and keep all you lovely ladies entertained :)

Anyways onto today's post ...

I've seen this style of nail art floating around in BlogLand a lot recently and had to hop onto the train and show you guys my take on it :)

I used 17's Sphinx nail polish which is a pale gold colour and i teamed it with a few staggered layers of  OPI's Teenage Dream. I also added a thin layer of Barry M's Hologram clear glitter polish. I love the way this shimmers and sparkles and looks like fairy dust sprinkled over my fingertips!

Cant wait to try this out with other colours!!

NOTD's ...

Wednesday, 31 August 2011

Hi dolls!

Was searching through some pictures on my laptop the other night and found a couple of quick photo's i had taken for NOTD's but never got round to posting and/or weren't quite good enough for a whole dedicated post.

First up is a leopard nail art look:

I decided to try something a bit different from my trusty gold/peach look which i actually don quite regularly now. Unfortunately i wasn't too keen, plus the grey polish i used had gone a bit funny and chipped horrifically within about 10 hours! *big sad face*

I'm gonna give the leopard nail art another go with some other colour combinations - what do you recommend?

Also:

I totally adore the silver polish (so glittery!) from ELF but the jury's still out on the dark blue/black from George @ Asda. I'm thinking i shoulda put a bit of nail art (polka dots or the like) on the nails somewhere as it looks a bit odd, no??

So there we have it,  a couple of NOTD's that didn't quite make the cut but i thought I'd give you a little sneak peak before they're hidden in the depths of the numerous photo album's on my laptop.

What do you think of these? Would you like to see more nail posts on The Notebook?

xoxo

Orchestra of Wolves ...

Quick OOTD for you from Saturday.

We went to see Gallows for the second time this month and it was Frank Carters last show *big sigh and even bigger sad face*

The gig was awesome! It was super hot, super sweaty and the only alcoholic drink available to me was JD & Coke * oh hai there super cool rock chick, ha *

This is what i wore:

soz, the picture quality is not its best, i blame the photographer * thanks bf! *

Leather jacket - Primark
Grey eagle vest - Primark
Leggings - super old and holey * adds that rockstar edge ;) *
Biker boots - eBay
Tassel bag - New Look

Leopard nails - Barry M's Mushroom
Skull ring - eBay (it broke as i was getting ready :( still wore it though!)

Ok, so something different happened to my hair and i not quite sure what went wrong right.

As usual i backcombed, then sprayed a generous amount of Backcomb in a Bottle and then added Schwarzkopf's Volume powder for added texture and BOOF! my hair exploded in all its former emo glory!

loved it!!

So there we have it! Another quick OOTD with added Hair, Face and Nails of the Day thrown in, ha.

I also picked up a new Gallows tee at the gig but the one i wanted was only available in XL so i purchased in the hope of making this into a funky dress! .... If anyone has any cool (and easy!) ideas how i could go about this then please let me know :):)

NOTD - George Deceit

Tuesday, 21 June 2011

Today's Nail of the Day is brought to you by George @ Asda quick dry nail polish in Deceit.

I absolutely adore the nail polish range by George. There's a wide variety of colours to choose from, they're cheap (£1.75 but are currently on offer for just £1!!) and are quick drying.

The George nail polish range is perfect for me as i have quite a hands on job and find my nails suffering the most. I usually get only a couple of days wear out of most polishes before having messy chipped nails but with this brand i get 3-5 days wear :)

Deceit is a gorgeous deep midnight blue with a hint of shimmer. I love how easy this range of polish applies, one coat is often sufficient but i always add a second for a fuller colour and more polished/streak free finish.

I cant wait to wear this colour for a night out - will look great 'rocked up' with black skinnies, band tee and is a great alternative to black.

I also bought 2 other shades (a bright orange and a clear gold glitter) which i will review soon.

Have you tried the George nail polish range? What are you go-to nail colours at the moment?

Cornflower blue, blooming in the morning sun ... NOTD

Saturday, 2 April 2011

So here's the first piece from my London haul that i'm reviewing for my dolls - Cornflower nail polish from Primark.

I have tried a couple of the nail polishes from Primark before (a bright jade/green colour and just a basic clear top coat) and when i saw this colour i knew i had to have it!!

Its a gorgeous blue colour with a slight hint of purple/lavender - it's going to look fab throughout the summer :)

The packaging is nice and neat and also has an outer plastic casing to it. The range is 'Glo Baby Glo!' and the packet reads: A fantastically vibrant nail colour by day and a glowing sensation by night. This amazing quick dry formula not only applies easily and streak-free but also GLOWS under UV light! So when the lights go out, your nails will stand out - Perfect for clubbing. You glo girl!

As the blurb on the casing says this polish is easy to apply and does go on streak-free. I was extremely impressed with its consistency. It glides on thick enough that you only need one coat! I added a clear top coat for added protection and i was literally out the door within 10mins :)

Now i have been able to test out the UV glow so i cant say if that works or not - i am going to a gig in a few weeks and theres normally UV lighting somewhere in the venue so i'll have to remember to apply one of the polishes before i go!

Sorry for the messiness - hadn't done any touch-ups when i took the photo!

I absolutely adore this colour and nail polish and for only £2 you cant go wrong! I also got a coral colour which i will review once this colour comes off.

Have you tried any of this range? Whats your favourite nail colours for Spring/Summer?

xoxo
