OOTD - These boots were made for walking ...

Wednesday, 11 January 2012

Quick and simple outfit here that i threw together the other night before going out for a meal ... i then brushed my teeth, spilt toothpaste on the top and had to change. Does this happen to anyone else or just me?! It seems to happen at least once a week - will i ever learn!?

Oversized tshirt from H&M, massive snuggly cardigan and leggings. I also teamed this outfit with some boots I've had for about 8 months or so but worn once, sucha crime! I'm loving them and have worn them nearly everyday this week - i think my ongoing resolution of trying to wear heels may succeed with these baby's!

OOTD - Ahoy There ...

Tuesday, 8 November 2011

Firstly I'd like to apologise for the dodge pictures ... taken at the bf's where space is very limited. I had to stand on the bed (lime green bed covers, hello!) as there isn't enough floorspace for both of us! We need to move out right!? There's also some weird facial expressions/mouth positions going on up there, ha.

Sunday night i went to see The Blackout at the Roundhouse in Camden. Love The Blackout - this was probably the 6th time I've seen them :)

As you'll see above this is the outfit i wore that evening. Been dying to where these tights for absolutely ageeeees! I first saw them here on Aly's blog and went on a desperate hunt to own them. Unfortunately my local Primark didn't stock them :( but thanks to the power of Twitter the amazing Leanne picked me up a pair and brought them with her to our London blogging meet back in August. Yes, its taken me that long to find an occasion to wear them!

I teamed the tights with my trusty denim skirt (bought from Topshop about 7 years ago!!) and an Atticus polo shirt. I also added some cosy grey knee high socks as it was pretty chilly and the tights are fairly sheer.

Had an absolute blast and on the way we got a masssive foot long subway (meatball, cheese, non-toasted on Italian herb and cheese bread and allllllll the salad!) *drool*

Upcoming gigs:

Frank Turner @ Hammersmith Apollo

Gallows (new line up!) @ XOYO

InMe @ Islington Academy

Frank Turner @ Wembley Arena

Thanks again to Leanne for picking these up for me, much appreciated :)

FOTD ... Dramatic Black Smokey Eyes

Sunday, 23 October 2011

Yesterday morning i was browsing through some YouTube tutorials while the bf was peacefully sound a sleep avoiding taking me shopping and i decided to recreate one of the looks that night for a friends gig.

As I've been feeling a bit miserable of late i was fully embracing my emo/'goffik' side with this dramatic smokey eye ...

I used:

17 Eyeshadow - Darkness
FashionistA Baked Eyeshadow - Double Take
Eylure Pre-Glued False Eyelashes - 116

I love using this FashionistA eyeshadow as a highlighter for my eyes - used it pretty much everyday since i was very kindly given it at the TOWIB event (will be featuring it in more detail in a post soon).

I also love 17 eyeshadows - I've got quite a collection now. The one thing i wasn't too keen on was the fallout from this product but that may have been more noticeable because of how dark the shadow is or because i was quite heavy handed when applying it on the brush.

In hindsight i think next time i wear this look I'll blend a bit more, add a liquid or gel eyeliner to my upper lashline and wear a more pale shade on my lips so as not to distract from the eyes.

Do any of you wear dramatic eyes on a night out? I'd love to see them - link me below :)

Numb ...

Tuesday, 18 October 2011

This week I've been feeling a bit 'lost' and been moping around a wee bit. While driving home from work last night my mp3 player sensed my mood and decided to treat me to two of my all-time favourite songs in a row (its not very good with the ol' shuffle this mp3 but i cant complain for an eBay bargain ... £10! haha)

The songs totally described how I'm feeling at the mo and has re-newed my love of Linkin Park all over again :)

In The End reminds me of being 15 years old and listening to Radio 1 in my Art lesson - this song was always played around 3 o'clock and the kids in my class made fun of me as i was the only one that was 'different' - flipping love this song!

Unfortunately i couldn't find the official Numb video (well i could but they wouldn't let me steal post it) so I've treated you to a live version - I've seen Linkin Park live about 10 times - amazing. They just get better and better :)

Is it just me or is there something in the air at the moment and making everyone miserable?

Just Like A Star ... NOTD

Friday, 30 September 2011

I'm really excited to show you what I've done ...

I'm wearing false nails for the first time EVER!! Can you believe?! Haha.

As soon as i saw these Paris Hilton by Elegant Touch falsies i knew I'd have to give in to false nails. I first saw these in Tesco's while on my lunch break and ooh'd and aah'd over them for a further TWO months before finally caving and purchasing them.

before ...

I have quite weak nails that are prone to splitting, I also have quite a hands-on job at times so my nails are always getting caught on things. For these reasons i never wanted to try falsies as i thought a) they would make my poorly nails even worse and b) they wouldn't last long and just rip off while working.

One top reason that helped make up my mind about buying these nails was the introduction of Nailene Ultra Adhesive Tabs that claim they 'will not damage natural nails!' (Super sticky, clear stickers that lay on top of your natural nails and you simply push the fake nail on top of that - no glue!)

I have to admit the Nailene Ultra Adhesive Tabs were really fiddly to apply - as mentioned above they are super sticky - great for holding the false nails but i got myself into a bit of a muddle so the tabs did not end up neat at all! I was a bit worried this would muck up the application of the nails but it all turned out ok, phew! (I should've snapped some pictures of this but by this point i just wanted to speed through the rest of the process as i was getting flustered, ha)

The nails in question are called 'Party Girl' and they are super cute clear nails with black, gold glitter and grey 'slicks' in one corner and a super emo star outline in the other. So me!!

Overall i was really impressed with these nails and the little adhesive tabs - i especially like that by using the adhesive tabs i can reuse the false nails again and again - bargain alert!

Paris Hilton by Elegant Touch false nails retail at £6 and can be found in Tesco's, eBay and various online outlets.

What do you think of my first foray into false nails? Have you tried these or the Nailene tabs?

£1 OOTN

Monday, 1 August 2011

I was really struggling to find a new dress for a party last Friday night and had been searching all week and nothing took my fancy!

I then began the mammoth task of scouring my wardrobe for something suitable ... when i came across a black and gold woolen skirt that i had picked up in Primark about two years ago ... for just £1.

A flash of inspiration hit me and i hoisted the skirt up, chucked on a belt and voila! A new dress!! ha.

I love the finished look!

I teamed it with a zillion different necklaces, bracelets and a cute feather head band. Scruffed my hair up, did a quick smokey eye look and chucked on some biker boots and there we have it, a bargainous OOTN!!

Here's a little peek at the make up look i did and my scruffy hair - not quite as good as last weekend but better than flat, lifeless hair. I really want to sort out my clip-in extensions - really struggling to find some decent ones that match the tones of my hair :(

P.S. I didn't have my tripod with me and the bf wasn't being very cooperative and helping me out with the photos so i invented my own camera stand in his hallway ... special thanks goes to the drum and cardboard box i happened to find lying around, ha! Inventive, no?!

What's the best bargain you've ever found?

Orchestra of Wolves ...

Wednesday, 27 July 2011

Quick OOTD for you from Saturday.

We went to see Gallows for the second time this month and it was Frank Carters last show *big sigh and even bigger sad face*

The gig was awesome! It was super hot, super sweaty and the only alcoholic drink available to me was JD & Coke * oh hai there super cool rock chick, ha *

This is what i wore:

soz, the picture quality is not its best, i blame the photographer * thanks bf! *

Leather jacket - Primark
Grey eagle vest - Primark
Leggings - super old and holey * adds that rockstar edge ;) *
Biker boots - eBay
Tassel bag - New Look

Leopard nails - Barry M's Mushroom
Skull ring - eBay (it broke as i was getting ready :( still wore it though!)

Ok, so something different happened to my hair and i not quite sure what went wrong right.

As usual i backcombed, then sprayed a generous amount of Backcomb in a Bottle and then added Schwarzkopf's Volume powder for added texture and BOOF! my hair exploded in all its former emo glory!

loved it!!

So there we have it! Another quick OOTD with added Hair, Face and Nails of the Day thrown in, ha.

I also picked up a new Gallows tee at the gig but the one i wanted was only available in XL so i purchased in the hope of making this into a funky dress! .... If anyone has any cool (and easy!) ideas how i could go about this then please let me know :):)

Band of the week #2:

Kate Voegele

So this weeks 'Band of the Week' is actually an artist. One that i absolutely adore!

I first heard of Kate during Season 6 of One Tree Hill and then i started re-watching the boxsets from the beginning actually came to realise Kate Voegele and her music had been featured in OTH for quite a while.

I love her edgy attitude and fantastic 'rock chick' wardrobe. I love her pop/rock songs that are ever-so catchy. She's totally gorgeous too.

I'm desperate for Kate Voegele to come to the UK so i get a chance to see her :) but at the moment i will have to make-do with her brief appearances on One Tree Hill.

Please take time to check out her music - i definitely like to think of Kate Voegele as a hidden gem in my music collection that always brings a smile to my face when i listen to her stuff :)

Here's a little taster to get you started ...

That's it for this week's music intervention :p

Hope you enjoy
