Happy Halloween!

Monday 31 October 2011

Happy Halloween!

I was a bit bored on Sunday afternoon so decided to experiment with some spooooky nails that i had seen floating around the Blogasphere.

I used George @ Asda nail polish in Sunset Orange and Models Own nail art pen - pretty happy with how they came out, especially as i'm only going to be wearing them for one day. It has however got me excited for Christmas and i've started thinking of nail art i can do for the festive season! I need to invest in a couple of nail art pens in some Christmassy shades me thinks *trots off to eBay*

These nails (and the pumpkin we made for the reception desk at work) are the only things I've done/am doing for Halloween - i totally feel old as I've been hearing all about your spooky parties and adventures on Twitter and i spent the evening in watching XFactor and How I Met Your Mother!

Lush Ma Bar - Toffee and Chocolate bubble bar goodness ...

Saturday 29 October 2011

I recently treated myself to a few Lush products and could not resist this chocolate cake look-a-like!

Ma Bar is a delish toffee and chocolate bubble bar that smells exactly like caramel with a hint of choc - it.is.amaze.

It has quite a squidgy to touch and when crumbling it has the texture of uncooked cookie dough ... if you are wondering if it tastes like cookie dough i can assure you it does not! (yes, I'm a fool ... i totally have to lick something that's so pretty and delicious looking - does anyone else do that? Nope, just me then! o_0)

How to use your bubble bar:

1. Crumble under running water.
2. Swish, swish, swish.
3. Revel in big, frothy piles of bubbles.

(instructions borrowed from the Lush magazine)

Unfortunately i didn't get any photos of it while using it in the bath but it frothed up quite nicely although the bubbles didn't last long.

I did find my skin silky smooth and hydrated after using the Ma Bar and the yummy scent lingered on my skin until the next morning :)

I would buy this product again purely for its delicious smell and moisturising qualities :)

RRP: £2.50/100g

Funny story: I was casually perusing the bright and colourful stands when an overly friendly sales assistant bombarded me with greetings and shoved a wicker basket in my hand - she then proceeded to chat to me for about 10 minutes as if we were life-long friends!

Has this happened to anyone else in Lush?

The Horse Within ...

Thursday 27 October 2011

You may wonder why i chose the above sentence as my post title ... well 'The Horse Within' is the name of my friends band #shamelessplug

Just a quick Outfit of the Day from me today ... having a few issues with my tripod and its lack of co-operation, ho-hum.

Finallllly got round to wearing the horse belt from my RAK goodies that gorgeous Rachel sent me :) i love it so much and it really jazzed up this little outfit for work, very pleased :)

Played around a bit with my header - what do you guys think?

I fancied a change seeing as the white blonde short locks are long gone and i feel it represents my rock-chick edge more ;)

Also updated my button to match so if you'd like to support my little blog please feel free to pop it on your own blog :)

FOTD ... Dramatic Black Smokey Eyes

Sunday 23 October 2011

Yesterday morning i was browsing through some YouTube tutorials while the bf was peacefully sound a sleep avoiding taking me shopping and i decided to recreate one of the looks that night for a friends gig.

As I've been feeling a bit miserable of late i was fully embracing my emo/'goffik' side with this dramatic smokey eye ...

I used:

17 Eyeshadow - Darkness
FashionistA Baked Eyeshadow - Double Take
Eylure Pre-Glued False Eyelashes - 116

I love using this FashionistA eyeshadow as a highlighter for my eyes - used it pretty much everyday since i was very kindly given it at the TOWIB event (will be featuring it in more detail in a post soon).

I also love 17 eyeshadows - I've got quite a collection now. The one thing i wasn't too keen on was the fallout from this product but that may have been more noticeable because of how dark the shadow is or because i was quite heavy handed when applying it on the brush.

In hindsight i think next time i wear this look I'll blend a bit more, add a liquid or gel eyeliner to my upper lashline and wear a more pale shade on my lips so as not to distract from the eyes.

Do any of you wear dramatic eyes on a night out? I'd love to see them - link me below :)

Numb ...

Tuesday 18 October 2011

This week I've been feeling a bit 'lost' and been moping around a wee bit. While driving home from work last night my mp3 player sensed my mood and decided to treat me to two of my all-time favourite songs in a row (its not very good with the ol' shuffle this mp3 but i cant complain for an eBay bargain ... £10! haha)

The songs totally described how I'm feeling at the mo and has re-newed my love of Linkin Park all over again :)

In The End reminds me of being 15 years old and listening to Radio 1 in my Art lesson - this song was always played around 3 o'clock and the kids in my class made fun of me as i was the only one that was 'different' - flipping love this song!

Unfortunately i couldn't find the official Numb video (well i could but they wouldn't let me steal post it) so I've treated you to a live version - I've seen Linkin Park live about 10 times - amazing. They just get better and better :)

Is it just me or is there something in the air at the moment and making everyone miserable?

xoxo

Izzy Wizzy Lets Get Fizzy ...

Monday 17 October 2011

A while back i was searching eBay for Christmas gift ideas when i found a seller who sold handmade bath bombs with many gorgeous 'flavours'. I decided to place an order and give these beauts a try to see how they compared with bath-ballistic giants Lush.

I opted for 6 fizzing bath bombs in total:

...  how cute is the packaging they arrived in!!? Just like a little treasure chest :)

(L)  Apple pie & custard (R) Banoffee Pie

(L) Romance (R) Pink Sparkle

(L) Christmas Pudding (R) Hawaiian (i think...)

Look at the size of them, they're huge!

Once plopped in the bath these balls bubbled and fizzed really well (although towards the end they did need a helping hand).

I got an unpleasant surprise from the Romance bomb - released from this ball was hundreds of bits of dried flowers and twig-like foliage. To some this may be nice and add to the relaxing aura but for me it was mulchy and i spent an age fishing out all the little bits from around the bath once the water had drained!

All the scents smelt amazing! Especially the Christmas Pudding flavour and how cute does it look!

The one thing about this particular bath bomb was that it left the water a scary blood/rust colour ...

... argh!!? ...

My favourite was the Pink Sparkle as it exploded with glitter - absolutely gutted i didn't get any pictures of this one (but I'm sure you've all seen similar by the likes of Lush)

Unfortunately i can no longer find the seller on eBay to link you guys to them but I've had a quick search round and there's hundreds of homemade bath bombs on there with so many gorgeous scents! I'd love to try handmade soaps next :)

Have you tried any other brands of bath bombs? How did they fair compared to Lush?
